our diy mixing palette
The Paint Pack includes the exact materials Sally uses for her own personal artworks. Same canvases. Same brushes. Same paints. What she uses, we use.
The same applies to the mixing palette. It was never an option to include a little plastic mixing palette in the Pack. Yes, they look cute. Yes, they are also the most impractical ba***rds known to mankind.
When left exposed to the air, acrylic paint hardens very quickly. As a primary school teacher, Sally has spent too many evenings almost bursting a bicep trying to scrub cemented paint off of mixing trays. Acrylic paint can also clog drains and contains chemicals that can pollute our water when washed down the drain.
So, not only to hashtag save the turtles, but to also save you time and energy, we don't use plastic mixing palettes.
Instead, we make our own from stuff you probably already have at home anyway.

4.
Mix the paints to your heart's content. Fun Fact: With it's silicone layer, baking parchment doesn't let any paint or water seep through. It makes for an ideal surface for keeping paints nice and silky. (Plus, ensures absolutely zero paint get's on mom's dinner plate.) |
5.
When you are finished painting, simply ball up your baking parchment and toss it in the bin. Or, keep it and reuse next time! |
Overall
This mixing palette includes: - No pesky wash up. - No plumber's bum crack. - No dead fish. |
